DIY 4th of July

DIY 4th of July

Hi Friends!

Summers officially here and today we’re busy in the Make Shoppe putting together some ideas for the 4th of July.
As I browsed online, Pinterest, Etsy and Craftsy and saw some really cute ideas but didn’t have all the various materials to make certain things. So, I started going through some scrapbook papers and put together some colors and textures that had a patriotic and vintage feel to them. Then I gathered some shape punches and other tools but I still didn’t know what I wanted to make.
Awhile back before the MakeShoppe started, I did a lot of scrapbooking and card making and that inspired me to try to put together some cute stuff with the card stock. So, little by little I made these cute little napkin rings or bracelets, party hats and bow ties. When I create a hardly use any templates I usually just practice on scrap paper until I’m happy and have achieved my look. Besides, if it’s too easy it isn’t challenging enough, right?  Check out the gallery!

If you have any questions about technique or materials, please feel free to send me a message in ” Talk to Tutu.”

Wishing you and yours a Happy and Safe 4th of July!

A DIY Wedding

A DIY Wedding

Hello All!

As we approach wedding season I’ve seen so many great craft ideas for a DIY Wedding, Bridal Shower or Engagement Party. Although professional wedding vendors are in high demand it seems that Doing it Yourself (DIY) has become a fascinating trend for saving a few dollars. Having an extravagant wedding is always welcome but not at an extravagant price! The heartfelt, warm and sentimental features are what your guests will remember and a lot of this can be done by you.

I was recently contacted by a friend and was asked to work on a design for a Bridal Shower Card. She expressed she has a tight budget but wants hand crafted cards made for her event. So, I pitched an idea to her that could save her some money. I would design a card template for her that she and some of her Bridal Party could assemble and put together themselves. She absolutely LOVED this idea!!! In addition to designing the card I also provided a materials list and where to buy them, step by step instructions and some assembly pictures to go along with it.

So, today I’ve finished the design and will be presenting this to her. Check out the gallery to see the making of the card!
